LETTERS
The letters are usually painted silver, gold, white or black. For a more gentle natural effect we match Farrow & Ball Lichen - a pale green which looks lovely against the grey slate. Another natural look is F&B Purbeck Stone, which is a very light grey. We can, however, paint in lots of other stock colours @ £5. Please note -  our lettering is deep engraved, not surface etched as many of the cheap slate signs around these days.

We can also blast the background away, leaving raised unpainted letters. When leaving letters raised, please choose a bold font. For a selection of fonts - CLICK HERE Letter size is not fixed and is normally adjusted to suit the sign. If you have something particular in mind - just let us know.

On a slate address sign you may prefer the numbers lager than the letters. Tell exactly what you want and our designers will create a design for you. We want your slate house sign to be perfect - unique and just the way you want it.

If the sizes or layouts mentioned above don’t meet your requirements, we can create custom designs in any size with thickness options of 20mm, 30mm, or 50mm. We maintain a large stock of slate, which can be cut to your specifications.

BORDERS
We can add a line border with indented or square corners at a cost of £8.95. Another exciting technique is the border in relief where the slate around the outside of the sign is blasted away leaving the required shape in the middle. The cost of a border in relief is £9.95.  When the letters are raised and unpainted, there is no extra cost for surrounding or line borders.

HOLES  
Drilling holes into the slate slate house sign is challenging as it necessitates ample water to keep the slate cool. We offer drilling services at £1.10 per standard hole or £1.95 per countersunk hole. For a 100mm high slate, we recommend two holes, while larger slates may require four. If opting for adhesives, we advise additional support, especially for larger signs.
